Long story behind this one. Stream of consciousness if you will.

For one of my design classes, we were supposed to represent "Evil" in an abstract way. This was my go at it. Probably not as abstract as they might have liked -- i envisioned a wave or advancing army when working with the project. I guess i have always had a difficult time with art that does not clearly convey its intent, and abstract expressionism often falls in that category.

This work was inspired by an argument with a female friend of mine. She has (what i consider to be) huge misconceptions concerning the ideal feminine form. It is so typical, girls think that guys want them to be as skinny as possible. Conversely, guys think that girls want them to be as muscular as possible. Problem is that neither gender realizes that HEALTHY is the most attractive. More muscle does not necessarily mean more healthy. Neither does less fat. But Muscle and Beauty magazines twist the perspectives and self-image of certain people.

And here we bring in my work . . .These models may have beautiful faces, but i refuse to let you see them. A pretty face distracts us from the hideous structure beneath. I find these faces (courtesy of HR Giger) to fit much more appropriately with the bodies. Consider this work a "counter propaganda".
